Work in progress

The Dragon
Stainless steel welded sculpture of a dragon

The Dragon
Working on the rocker arm. 2m long arm that will rock and swivel in the wind hopefully giving the impression of flight.

The Dragon
Been trying to clean all the welding oxide off, but even with the pickling acid it is not working as well as I would like. Trying to source an electro polishing company to give a clean.

The Dragon
Finished the Dragon now to decide on how to mount it.

The Dragon
He now is covered in scales. About 600 of them. What a time consuming and fiddly task that was

The Dragon
I wasn't entirely happy with the proportions of the Dragon so I put him on a weight loss / body building program, he is now a bit trimmer with slightly more muscle. I am now on the more tedious process of making and fitting the scales. This is really tricky as I have made them out of very thin stainless steel so they are difficult to weld.

The Dragon
Soon be ready for some scales

The Dragon
Coming along nicely

Sculpt welding the dragon legs
A slow process of building up the shape of muscles and tendons by building up the metal with weld.

The Dragon starting to take shape
Going better than expected. This is proving to be very challenging to make.

The Rushes
Stainless steel table top sculpture, It can also be mounted directly to a fence post.

The Dragon
Stainless steel welded Dragon , a long way to go. the head is taking shape

Small table top prototype
A table top prototype kinetic sculpture. Stainless steel, Brass and aluminium.

The Eternal Flame
Sunny Sunday and looking good. Hopefully get the polishing finished this year and the metal is on prder for the stand but won't be here until next year

The Irregularity
This has been quite a challenge to get balanced, could still be improved on and hopefully will do that during the final finishing.

The Eternal Flame
Nearly finished now, still a little more refinement to the finish and I have the tower to make for it. Very pleased with it so far.

The Eternal Flame
Fabricated from 316 st steel and fitted with stainless steel sealed bearings. Not finished yet but looking good for the first test.

The Irregularity
First test of this new piece, still a fair bit of work to be done

Storm Catcher on test
I am designing a cantilever stand for testing my sculptures on especially the big heavy ones like storm catcher. Hopefully I will be able to get it up in to some cleaner air. at the moment on my short test rig it is too low and the wind is too turbulent. Machined and fabricated from 316 stainless steel. Double sealed stainless steel bearings. Weighing in at 55kg this sculpture has been designed to survive the riggers of the coast. My biggest project so far.

Sleepless Night
Sadly this one is not working as planned and also got blown over during storm Darragh along with my garden fence. It was my fault as I forgot to weight the test rig down and got woken at 3 in the morning when it crashed to the ground. I am re designing the bearing mounts and will get on to repairing it soon.

Hope to start on this little gem soon

A new piece as yet un named.
All made from 316 st steel TIG welded.

A Finial for a new piece I am working on
Made from 7 pieces of 316 st steel, TIG welded and polished

Test build of a new design
Part build of my new design. So far so good.

Center hub build
